DALLAS, TX – Trailing 28-7 in the first half and without their leading rusher Traylon Shead who left the game with a leg injury early in the second quarter, the SMU Mustangs looked like a team headed for a disappointing upset on their own home field Saturday.

Of course, looks can be deceiving.

SMU senior quarterback Garrett Gilbert took over from there throwing for a school-record 538 yards and four touchdowns while adding another 97 and two more touchdowns on the ground. It was good for 45 second-half points as the Mustangs rallied for a 59-49 American Athletic Conference win at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

The College Football America 2013 Yearbook Encyclopedia — which features 919 college football teams and 454 full-color pages — is available for just $5.99. Go to lulu.com and search for “College Football America,” or just click here: http://bit.ly/15aVRYW.
