2012 CFB Game 4: UCLA at Rice

Rice Football

I’m not sure who this Rice player is nor what he’s doing, but he looks cool doing it as he walks to the locker room before the Owls’ season opener with UCLA on Aug. 30, 2012, at Rice Stadium. (RoadTripSports.com photo by Matthew Postins)

Rice isn’t exactly a football powerhouse. It never really has been. It’s claim to fame is producing quarterback Tommy Kramer, who went on to fame with the Minnesota Vikings and will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2012.

Occasionally, Rice gets a nice opponent to come to Rice Stadium and this year the Owls convinced UCLA to make the trip to Houston. For the Bruins, who are getting a fresh start under new head coach Jim Mora Jr., they needed a game where they could get a win and get some momentum moving forward. The Bruins did that, winning 49, 24, although the Owls gave the Bruins a scare at halftime.

I’m working on my Road Trip Replay for my trip to Rice Stadium and I hope to have that done within the next few days.

In the meantime, it’s Saturday and it’s Week 1 of college football. Both Kendall Webb and Chuck Cox are on the road in Texas today, but I’ll be staying at home. There are too many good games on today.

As we go through the college football season, you’ll find links to all of our game galleries on our Facebook page. I’m just the middle man. But you should feel free to hit our Facebook page, like the page and go right to the source so you get them the second they’re posted. You’ll get all the game coverage you need from ESPN, CBSSports.com, etc… RoadTripSports.com is all about everything else.

More galleries to come from Week 1.
