TYLER, Texas – Ohio State redshirt freshman quarterback J.T. Barrett has been named The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the twelfth week of the 2014 college football season.
This is the second time this year the Big Ten quarterback has received this honor. Barrett accounted for 389 yards of Ohio State’s 489 yards of offense in the eighth-ranked Buckeyes’ 31-24 win over No. 25 Minnesota Saturday in Minneapolis. Barrett threw for three touchdowns and ran for an Ohio State quarterback-record 189 yards and another score. The 189 yards rushing were a single-game record for an Ohio State quarterback, breaking the previous record set by Braxton Miller in 2012. Barrett completed 15 of 25 passes for 200 yards and one interception, another stellar performance for the freshman.
Barrett graduated from Rider High School, Wichita Falls, Texas.
