The bottom line? Dupree is better off than some of the tweeners in this draft. His build is a bit more similar to Simeon Rice, who patrolled the right end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli was coaching the Bucs defensive line. His overall ability isn’t quite at Rice’s level, however. But you want your right end pass rusher to have great overall speed and quickness so they can compete with NFL-caliber left tackles. Dupree projects as a player that can become that, and if the Cowboys can keep many of their defensive line pieces this offseason Dupree wouldn’t feel the heat of production so soon in his NFL career. The scouting process is key for Dupree, as he must show teams like the Cowboys that being a 4-3 end in the NFL won’t be a stretch.
