ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers enshrined their greatest power hitter and one of their best closers in the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame Saturday night, as Juan Gonzalez and Jeff Russell became the 18th and 19th members.
The pregame ceremony saw eight current Texas Rangers Hall of Famers, a slew of Rangers alumni and former Rangers pitching coach Tom House join the festivities to induct the pair.
Gonzalez played for the Rangers from 1989-1999, and again from 2002-03, and during that span was one of the game’s premier home run hitters. Gonzalez is the team’s all-time leader in home runs (372), RBIs (1,180) and extra-base hits (713). He is also in the Top 5 in team history in total bases (second, 3,073), slugging (second, .565), runs (third, 878), hits (fourth, 1,595), doubles (fourth, 320), at-bats (fourth, 5,435) and games (fifth, 1,400).
