The Dallas Cowboys open training camp on Thursday afternoon in Oxnard, Calif. On Wednesday owner Jerry Jones, vice president Stephen Jones and head coach Jason Garrett had their usual pre-camp press conference. For this edition of First and 10, we break down the relevant points.

I think Jeremy Mincey is over-playing his hand when it comes to this sudden holdout. Mincey didn’t get on the team plane earlier this week because he wanted the Dallas Cowboys to address his contract, which expires after this season. I imagine Jeremy Mincey and his agent see a chance to leverage Greg Hardy’s four-game suspension into more money.

Well, I don’t think that’s going to work. I mean, Mincey had a nice year last year, netting six sacks and that led the Cowboys. But I don’t see him out-sacking Hardy this season, even if Hardy misses the first four games. Mincey is a complementary piece, nothing more.

I would put my money on defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli finding a way to get effective play out of his remaining defensive linemen without both Mincey and Hardy early this season than Mincey getting more money through a holdout.
