We’ve got one of our most exciting football seasons yet planned for you here with the RoadTripSports/College Football America crew.
We actually started the season two weeks ago in Canton, Ohio, with the IFAF Senior World Championship that we shared with you here, and next up is a week of high school football on the Last Frontier. I will travel to Alaska on August 13, and the itinerary at the moment includes four games — the Bartlett (Anchorage) Golden Bears at the Kenai Central Kardinals; Anchorage South Wolverines at Soldotna Stars; Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears at Barrow Whalers; and North Pole Patriots at Juneau-Douglas. The Anchorage South-Soldotna game is actually one of the state’s premier match-ups in 2015 featuring the defending Large School champion at the defending Medium School Champion.
On the way back from Alaska, I’ll will swing by Salt Lake City, Utah, and catch the Westlake (Saratoga Springs) Thunder at the reigning Utah Class 5A state champion Bingham (South Jordan) Miners. If Bingham sounds familiar, it’s possible you caught their ESPN game in late December when they participated in the Burger King State Champions Bowl Series losing to the Washington (Miami, FL) Tornadoes in a hard-fought 34-28 game. They proved their mettle in that game, and they remain a national power heading into 2015.
Finally, on Saturday, Webb will be back in Tennessee just in time for the another big ESPN doubleheader with the defending Alabama Class 6A champion Clay-Chalkville (Pinson) Cougars paying a visit to the Middle Tennessee powerhouse Blackman (Murfreesboro) Blaze. That’s followed by the defending Alabama Class 7A champion Hoover Buccaneers taking on the Oakland (Murfreesboro) Patriots with both games being hosted by Middle Tennessee State University.
