The San Francisco 49ers beat the Dallas Cowboys, 23-6, in the second preseason game of 2015. In this edition of First-and-10 we break down what happened, who looked good and who didn’t as the dress rehearsal game looms next week.
The offense was awful on Sunday. Quarterback Dustin Vaughan threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Brandon Weeden didn’t get the offense moving, either. The offensive line wasn’t on the same page and the 49ers brought waves of pass rushers to take advantage. You want to write all of that off because it’s a preseason game and most of the starters didn’t play long, but I expected the Cowboys to take a step forward and not a step back. They did the latter Sunday night. The Cowboys didn’t let themselves off the hook, which is encouraging.
