COMMERCE, Texas – The No.22-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce Lions opened the season with a convincing 48-17 victory over Adams State in an NCAA Division II battle at Memorial Stadium last week. The win was the 200th for the Lions on their home field.

In three season openers under the direction of head coach Colby Carthel, A&M-Commerce, of the Lone Star Conference, has outscored opponents, 197-43, including last season’s historic 98-20 thumping of East Texas Baptist University.

The Lions got 17 carries, 149 yards and a touchdown from Richard Cooper, along with 18 carries, 97 yards and a pair of scores from Theo Wofford on Thursday night, helping them out-gain Adams State, out of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, 536-256 yards.
