The Dallas Cowboys signed defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford to a five-year contract extension on Saturday. RandHSports breaks down the deal and the ramifications below.

What’s in the deal? The deal, reportedly, is for five years and $45 million. That includes $25.7 million in guaranteed money, which would mean an annual cap hit of $5.14 million, assuming that amount is pro-rated evenly for the life of the contract. The average annual value of the contract is $9 million.

When does the deal kick in? It appears the deal will kick in after this season. Crawford’s current cap hit for 2015 is $918,813.
