Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant underwent surgery on his broken foot Monday. Defensive end Randy Gregory has a high ankle sprain. Both are expected to miss four to six weeks of the regular season. In this edition of First and 10, we break down the ramifications of both injuries.
So when could Dez Bryant and Randy Gregory return? Based on the announced timelines for recovery, it looks like the earliest both could be back would be Week 5 against New England. Technically, that’s four weeks of recovery time, but that’s really pressing it for both players and seems risky. The Dallas Cowboys have a bye on Oct. 18, followed by their road trip to the New York Giants on Oct. 25. That seems more realistic and would give both the full six weeks to recover.
Head coach Jason Garrett said the timelines aren’t set in stone, but they’re based on past history of other players so they’re a good barometer.
