MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders opened the 2015 season in high-scoring fashion Saturday night steamrolling the Jackson State Tigers 70-14 at Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro.
Middle Tennessee accumulated 36 first downs to Jackson State’s nine, and the Blue Raiders’ defense held the Tigers to just 5 net yards rushing on the day. In all, the Blue Raiders rolled up 605 yards of total offense to 276 for the Tigers.
The one-sided affair allowed the Blue Raiders to break in new quarterback Brent Stockstill, the son of head coach Rick Stockstill, and the young signal-caller completed 24-of-30 passes for 348 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.
