TYLER, Texas – Oklahoma Quarterback Baker Mayfield has been named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the third week of the college football season.
Mayfield set a school single-game record for total offense with 572 yards (most by an FBS player this season) in Oklahoma’s 52-38 win over Tulsa.
The Big 12 Co-Conference Offensive Player of the Week was 32-38 for a career high 487 yards passing (second most in FBS this season) and rushed for a career-high 85 yards on 13 carries. He tied a school record with six total touchdowns (tied a career high with four passing TDs and set a career high with two rushing TDs).
Baker Mayfield on setting a school record, “That’s pretty humbling, especially because of the tradition here. That’s something that’s pretty special to me knowing who all has come through here”.
“Baker Mayfield was sensational in running, passing, keeping things alive. He made some incredible plays”, Head Coach Bob Stoops said.
Mayfield is a graduate of Lake Travis High School in Austin.

THE EARL CAMPBELL TYLER ROSE AWARD
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division 1 football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year D1 Texas college.
