LOUISVILLE, Ky. – At least give the Seneca (Louisville, KY) Red Hawks credit for showing up at their stadium Friday night to take on Kentucky’s top-ranked Male (Louisville, KY) Bulldogs.
One week after Male replaced the Trinity (Louisville, KY) Shamrocks as the state’s No. 1 team by virtue of a 42-13 head-to-head win, the winless Red Hawks had the unenviable task of trying to figure out a way to stop the Bulldogs.
Not surprisingly, they didn’t. In fact, they didn’t even slow the Bulldogs down trailing 37-0 after the first period. But fortunately thereafter, the mercy rule kicked in giving the Red Hawks some respite in a 63-0 loss. It’s the fifth time in six games that Seneca has been shut out.
Next up for Male is a home date with the Butler (Louisville, KY) Bears next Friday night. Seneca, meanwhile, will host the Ballard (Louisville, KY) Bruins.
