College Football America’s 2015 FBS Coaching Carousel: Miami Fires Al Golden

Miami Hurricanes

No need to hedge bets on this one — the Miami Hurricanes have fired Al Golden.

The university announced the move through its own web site, ending the reign of one of college football’s better dressed head coaches. The final straw was Saturday’s 56-0 loss to Clemson, the worst loss in program history.

Golden served Miami about as well as he could given the fact that he helmed a program that was operating under self-imposed sanctions for about half his tenure. Golden was 32-25 in five seasons, but in the end his sin was that he never got the Hurricanes to an ACC championship game.

Larry Scott will serve as interim head coach. This is the second opening in the state of Florida, as UCF’s George O’Leary retired on Sunday.

So we’re up to seven open coaching positions on the 2015 FBS Coaching Carousel.
