It’s RandHSports.com’s Week 8 Big 12 Football Conference review, and we are now looking at the most significant injury in the Big 12 this season with the fractured neck of Baylor quarterback Seth Russell. Plus, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield gets some level of revenge against Texas Tech, Texas rises up to win their second straight and Oklahoma State wins homecoming with a heavy heart.
No. 2/2 Baylor 45, Iowa State 27
So Baylor’s (7-0, 4-0 in Big 12) FBS-tying record of five straight games with 60 or more points came to an end against the Cyclones (2-5, 1-3), so some will look purely at the score of this game and think the Cyclones actually hung in their with the Bears. They didn’t. Baylor had a 35-7 lead at halftime and the lead was never in danger. Now, the Cyclones did do some good things defensively in that second half, holding Baylor without a score for four straight possessions. So the second half is going to become a popular game tape among the head coaches of the remaining teams on Baylor’s schedule. Those teams looking for any edge they can find at this point.
