TYLER, Texas – Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine has been named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the eighth week of the college football season.
The Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns, both season-highs, in Oklahoma’s 63-27 win over Texas Tech. The 201 rushing yards stand as the third most by a Big 12 player this season and the four rushing TDs are tied for the most. This is the fourth time in Perine’s young career that he has run for at least 200 yards and scored at least four touchdowns.
“Samaje makes rushing look easy, but he’s running hard, I promise you. He does have a lot of intangibles. He has a lot of energy, he’s very passionate the way he plays – he plays hard all of the time,” said Head Coach Bob Stoops, “Samaje is an incredible person, teammate. He’s a humble guy, and it isn’t just about him.”
Perine was one of five finalists for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award last year. He is a graduate of Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville, Texas.
