WACO, TEX.– Northwest Missouri State had a convincing victory over then-No. 24 Emporia State (Kan.), 41-14, and retained the top spot in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Bearcats received all 30 first-place votes, and are followed by No. 2 West Georgia, No. 3 Grand Valley State (Mich.), No. 4 Shepherd (W.Va.) and No. 5 Ashland (Ohio).
Colorado School of Mines made the biggest jump in the poll this week, moving up seven spots to No. 11 after its 57-21 victory over then-No. 5 Colorado State-Pueblo. With the loss, the ThunderWolves dropped 12 places to No. 19.
There is only one Top 25 matchup this week, and it is an important Great Northwest Athletic Conference battle as No. 13 Humboldt State (Calif.) plays host to No. 24 Azusa Pacific (Calif.).
