WACO, TEX.– There will be two top 25 matchups this week in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, but one features a team that is ranked for the first time since October 3, 2011. After losing earlier in the season to No. 11 Indiana (Pa.), Edinboro (Pa.) has reeled off five-straight victories to jump into the poll at No. 24 with an 8-1 record. The Fighting Scots will put their new ranking on the line this Saturday as they travel to No. 6 California (Pa.) in a battle for the top spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division.
For most of the top 10, it was business as usual as the top eight teams remained unchanged with Northwest Missouri State still sitting at No. 1 with all 30 first-place votes. The only change was to then-No. 9 Ashland (Ohio), who fell 12 places to No. 21 after its loss to Michigan Tech. LIU-Post (N.Y.) is ranked No. 10 this week, equaling their highest ranking in the Coaches’ Poll since November 19, 2002.
The second top 25 matchup is for the top spot in the Mountain East Conference as No. 3 Shepherd (W.Va.) plays host to No. 17 Fairmont State (W.Va.). Both teams come into the game unbeaten.
